"ABAD" beneficiary: Gultakin Alimammadova | Region: Guba | Carpet weaving
Gultakin Alimammadova, a resident of Quba district, is a skilled carpet weaver who has been creating remarkable works with threads for over a decade. She learned the intricacies of this craft from her grandmother, who taught her the art of knotting. She shares:
“My grandmother first taught me how to tie knots. Thanks to her, I mastered all the secrets of carpet weaving. After her passing, I decided to continue her profession.”
In addition to carpet weaving, Gultakin also engages in textile crafts, producing various woven toys and decorative items. She explains:
“I create a range of woven toys and decorative pieces. I love this craft because it allows me to forget everything else and find peace. In my works, I prioritize national ornaments and nature-inspired motifs. For carpets, I use traditional Quba patterns like Aghgul, Pirabadil, and Heyrati.”
Gultakin joined ABAD with the goal of expanding her family business and increasing her income. She notes:
“I’ve been able to sell my small carpets, woven toys, and other national souvenirs through ABAD. My aim is to have my products recognized and sold more widely. Until now, I hadn’t organized sales of my creations, but I believe ABAD will support me in this endeavor.”
