Həmzəlli village in Gabala, steeped in ancient history, is renowned across the region for its distinctive walnut halva. Intigam Dadashov, a resident of the village, produces this traditional delicacy for ABAD, branded as “Həmzəlli” halva and sold under this name.

He shares: “The recipe for our halva has been passed down through generations in our family. My grandfather and father were halva makers, and I’ve been crafting it for 40 years, teaching its secrets to my children. I always regretted that, despite its unique qualities, Həmzəlli halva wasn’t widely known in Azerbaijan, where Sheki or Guba halva often take the spotlight. To introduce it to the world and grow beyond the local market, we turned to ABAD. Especially during Novruz, the demand in our district could extend nationwide. ABAD, as an institution contributing to our culture, has taken on the task of popularizing Həmzəlli halva.”

Initially hesitant, Intigam thought ABAD might be out of reach, but he was proven wrong: “The ABAD team provided full support from our first meeting, offering expert guidance and valuable advice. Now, my halva varieties are sold across the country. I’m proud to be a small part of the big ABAD family.”

Currently, Həmzəlli halva is available in three varieties: walnut, sesame, and hazelnut. Looking ahead, Intigam plans to expand the range by incorporating dried fruits alongside nuts. He envisions a “Wine & Halva” concept, pairing the halva with local wines for tourists, similar to Italy’s “Wine & Cheese,” and collaborating with ice cream producers to create a unique halva-flavored ice cream.
