"ABAD" beneficiary: Farid Mayilov | Region: Kurdamir | Wood carving
Farid Mayilov, a resident of Kurdamir district, has been engaged in the art of wood carving for over four years. As a person with physical disabilities, Farid sought to develop his skills through the Vocational Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, where he first discovered wood carving.
Determined to master the intricacies of this craft, Farid honed his abilities and achieved remarkable success. Today, he creates miniature souvenirs of traditional Azerbaijani musical instruments such as the tar, kamancha, and saz, as well as other cultural motifs, all intricately carved on wood.
Farid has participated in numerous exhibitions across Azerbaijan, where his handcrafted works have been met with great interest. His primary goal in joining the ABAD project is to increase the sales of his creations and promote the art of wood carving within the country.
As a member of the ABAD family, Farid’s exquisite handcrafted works are now showcased and available at the ABAD craftsmanship centers.
