Zumrud Xaligova is one of our ABAD members engaged in weaving. She is a housewife with three children. Having learnt this craft from special catalogues, she improves herself gradually.
At first I was weaving apparel for my kids. They appeared to be so vibrant and many liked them. By the time, I started to get orders. I got my first revenue from these orders and nonetheless, it was a small amount, this stimulated me further. A while after, I was informed about an organization named ABAD. I admit that I could not believe that my handiwork would be welcomed this much. Applying to ABAD, my first attempt was not successful as I failed at the interview. Thus, I started to work on my skills and applied after a year again.
After becoming an ABAD member, Zumrud Khanum started to make souvenirs, especially in a traditional style.
“My income increased just like the value of my handicrafts. Many doors opened up to my face. I started to get the invitations to exhibitions and to take my place between decorative-applied folk artisans. I became a member of the Female Entrepreneur Association and started to cooperate with foreigner designers. Many positive changes occured in my life, and I believe that I will be one of the leading small business owners by doing more important things in the future. ”
Should note that Zumrud’s woven souvenirs are presented in all ABAD ethno-boutiques.
