Speaking about the origins of his aspiration to decorative-applied folk art, his family members had done blacksmithing.
“On the contrary, I was fond of jewelry, artistic embossing on metal. That’s why I decided to specialize in this field.” - he remarks.
Speaking about his working style, he prefers to work on classic national style, makes handicrafts with the “Şəbəkə” (Tracery) technique.
“Besides this, I am doing crafts with the embossing technique. Soon after I started to study in the Azerbaijan Academy of Fine Arts, I learned to work in the avant-garde style and a while after, I started to make handicrafts in avant-garde and traditional style. Each and every time I was releasing a new work that was made by the new synthesis.”
He has a personal studio near the National History Museum and today he prepares various decorative accents, souvenirs, pencil cases, different musical instruments, modern and ethnic elements and all the crafts made by the combination of folk art and modernism.
According to Vugar, he has chosen the field to materialize his notions and express his internal world.
Speaking about his master, he notes that he has learned this craft from old craftsmen of Mashtaga settlement:
“I have learned this craft from the old generation. There were elderly craftsmen working with ancient techniques. First I learned the technique of tracery, then I took classes on goldsmithing, as years went by, I became a sophisticated professional in this craft.
He says that he put up his handicrafts for sale mainly through specific galleries and social media.
He applied ABAD with the target of receiving relevant support to expand the sales market of his products.
His application evaluated positively and his handicrafts put up for sale in ABAD exhibition and sales centers.
