Ganja

Ganja is Azerbaijan's second largest city after the capital Baku, with a population of around 332,600. Ganja is located on the north-eastern side of the Lesser Caucasus, on both banks of the Ganja River, in Ganja-Gazakh Plain. Ganja was the capital city during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. It was named Elisabethpol in the Russian Empire period from 1804 to 1918, renamed Ganja in 1918, and its name changed to Kirovabad on February 22, 1935, and retained that name through the rest of the Soviet period. The city regained its original name in 1989. Nizami Tomb, Ganja Gates, Shah Abbas Mosque, Imamzadeh Tomb, “Bottle” House, Heydar Aliyev Park, Goygol National Park, and Javad Khan Tomb are among the most popular tourist destinations in Ganja.
