Tarana Shahbazova
Mrs. Tarana Shahbazova was born and completed her primary education in Khachmaz raion. History and philology were her majors during undergraduate studies. Tarana is married, and a mother of four. Mentioning about raising her kids, she says that working on her occupation is out of topic for now as she dedicates herself to bring up her children as well-rounded persons.  Tarana is extremely passionate about handcrafting and the idea of turning her passion into a source of income directed her to ABAD.

I work off stress by making decorative items, accessories, etc. Speaking about my favourite activity, this is weaving newspapers. I make crockery, even furniture out of newspapers. But people are hesitant about such things and do not believe in their durability. I am struggling with these stereotypes at the moment. I wish people would be informed more about how eco-friendly and accessible are the products made of newspaper.
Tarana Khanum can also be considered an innovator among ABAD artisans. Her multi-factorial support ideas in the field of art allure the attention of many. This is the idea which engages the labour of several ABAD beneficiaries to bring out a new composition:

“In the realization process an ABAD craftsman carves out a souvenir, the other one paints it and I weave the basket for it. When the product is sold, each craftsman takes their percentage” – she remarks.

Should note that Tarana’s handiwork is available at ABAD ethno-boutiques.
