On September 1-3, 2022, the General Assembly of
the European Route of Ceramics was held in Faenza city, which is considered to
be the capital for pottery in Italy.
Sheki city was represented by the members of
the Ceramics Route of the Council of Europe; ABAD public legal entity and State
Tourism Agency at Assembly.
Representatives from 11 countries (Azerbaijan,
Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Germany, Austria, Poland, etc.) participated
in the meeting.
Faenza is the headquarters of the European
Ceramics Route, managed by the European Route of Ceramics International
Association. Massimo Isola, the mayor of the city of Faenza, acted as the
"host of the house" in the Assembly. The Azerbaijani participants
made a presentation to Massimo Isola about the activities of the ABAD public
legal entity and the State Tourism Agency.
It should be noted that Sheki city was selected
as a member of the European Route of Ceramics in 2021 at the initiative of the
State Tourism Agency.
The establishment of the first Ceramics Center
in the South Caucasus – ABAD Ceramics and Applied Art Center in Sheki, and the
International Ceramics Symposium that place in this center played a major role
during the selection process.
