On the initiative of the founder and head of
IDEA Public Union, Leyla Aliyeva, the support project titled “Gənc arıçı”
(Young beekeeper) which promotes the development of eco-entrepreneurship and is
being carried out within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of
the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and the
"Year of Solidarity for the Green World” is on progress in Gabala
district.
The project is jointly implemented by the IDEA
Public Union, “ABAD" public legal entity, the Youth Fund of the Republic
of Azerbaijan, and the State Employment Agency.
The project is aimed at the creation and proper
development of beekeeping by youth and young families. A one-month training
program was held for 20 young families selected within the project with the
participation of professional experts.
The young people who completed the training course
were awarded with certificates by the official representatives, including the
director of the "ABAD" public legal entity, Rufat Elchiyev and they
were presented with bee families and hives, beekeeper's clothing, honey strainers
and other equipment necessary for beekeeping, and the young beekeepers were
provided with necessary conditions to effectively conduct the production
process.
The farms of young eco-entrepreneurs will be
regularly monitored by experts to increase the number of hives through natural
growth within two years and they will be provided with the necessary guidance.
It is planned to help new beekeepers gain access to a wider customer base and
organize sales effectively and reach the stage of competitive honey production
in the market economy.
It should be noted that the project has been implemented since 2021. The goal of the project is to expand bee areals in the country as they are the protectors of biodiversity.
